What role did/does Kate play in your life/work?
I met Kate as colleagues when we worked together in the area of leadership and development with a lens of equity and inclusion. When we worked together, we collaborated on projects, developed and led learning sessions, and led efforts around diversity and inclusion from an organizational lens. While we went our separate ways professionally, we continue to remain connected to listen, learn, and grow together professionally and personally. At times she has served in the role of coach, partner, and mentor.
What impact has Kate had on you?
Kate has a natural gift and the work she has done on herself allows her to create brave spaces for individuals and groups to listen and learn. She practices being vulnerable and courageous, which helps others, including me, do the same. Kate has taught and continues to teach that life is messy and how important it is to stay tuned to your emotions, inner thoughts, and how your body is responding as they are all connected.
What is unique about the way Kate works?
Kate has a wonderful presence and meets individuals where they are in the moment. She takes the time to understand the end goal(s) and what that looks like before starting projects or conversations. She approaches situations with an attitude of curiosity and suspension of judgment. She is intentional about listening for understanding and testing assumptions. For projects, she spends the time up front to understand the purpose, success indicators, framework and expectations. When Kate took on a project with me, I get confidence in her approach and ability to achieve the expected results.
